Coping with the cost-of-living crisis: Live Q&A

The cost-of-living crisis is taking a heavy toll on many of us across the country, financially and emotionally. As we all look to find ways to save money and cut costs, we know that the stress and worry of this period is affecting everyone, and will be hitting those already living with debt or financial restraints hardest. We hope this panel discussion can help offer some practical advice for managing through the cost-of-living crisis, guidance on taking care of your emotional wellbeing, and a reminder that though individual struggles may look different, we can all support one another.

We’re delighted to be joined by the following panellists:

Demi Fortson

Demi is the co-founder of Mendü as well as a neuroscientist and wellness expert based in New York City. At Mendü, she is passionate about building an inclusive and relevant product for marginalized communities, performing research, assessing risks, and community engagement and outreach. She has always been passionate about making mental healthcare more accessible for her communities from teaching meditation at women’s shelters to fighting for representation in psychiatric research. Prior to going to NYC, she was working at Johns Hopkins University under the African American Neuroscience Initiative to ensure black Americans were researched as much as their white counterparts. Prior to that, she had received her Masters and Bachelor’s from the University of Maryland in Biomedical Science. In addition to her academic pursuits, she also became a certified yoga and meditation teacher and taught these tools to her community.

Gareth Thomas

Gareth is a Project Development Co-ordinator at National Energy Action (NEA), the national charity tackling fuel poverty, based in Wales. His main areas of work are energy advice in the form of 1-2-1s, workshops and events.
